Arnel Pineda - new lead singer for Journey

Okay, it's not breaking news, but I heard this mentioned a few weeks ago, so I thought I'd investigate. Greg Kihn on KFOX in San Jose mentioned that Journey officially selected Arnel Pineda to replace their latest lead singer.  What I thought was interesting was the new singer was Filipino.

Being Filipino myself, I thought this was extremely cool.  There are quite a few American born Filipinos in entertainment these days, but this was a first as a major music act in rock.

Of course, this being 2007 (soon to be 2008), I had to check our generation's Smithsonian -- YouTube -- to check this guy out.  Holy cr*p!  This guy's excellent.  I was expecting some mediocre guy to take over, as has been the case with quite a few bands that have done this, particularly from this "era" of music.

Check him out for yourself in the video above!  Hopeful the fruits of this new collaboration will be better than previous attempts.
