Finally... I'm really excited about this update for no particular reason. While I'm probably going to turn Time Machine off, I'm excited for the refreshed look of the UI. The current version of the MacOS was getting a bit long-in-the-tooth compared to Vista (I actually the like Vista, but there are times when I think I've got XP Media Edition running).
From a UI perspective, the new doc looks more up-to-date, the app stack looks really useful, but what really excites me is CoverFlow for documents. In-context preview has been lacking on the current MacOS -- yeah, if an app has foresight it could generate a thumbnail, but straight out of my digital camera, I get the generic jpg icon. Depending on how well it works, I may dump iPhoto (I hate the space the meta-data and archiving it does -- it sucks up so much space), while I have it installed, I have yet to actively use Microsoft Expression Media (formerly iView Pro), which is actually pretty good. I just don't want to have to run another app to view my digital photos. This is something Microsoft did right pretty early on.
